How do I schedule an appointment?
First time clients are encouraged to schedule over the phone so I can answer any question you have, decide together the length of session that is appropriate, and find an appointment time that works best.
Returning clients, please schedule through Clinicsense.
Every client will receive an email confirmation with the address and directions, and an additional email to fill out the online confidential HIPAA compliant health intake form. We have hard copies in the office for those unable to access the preferred online version.
What time should I arrive for my massage?
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to ensure that you receive your full session time. Arriving late might reduce your hands-on time. Please remember to fill out your online HIPAA compliant health intake form before you arrive.
What is the cancellation/rescheduling/late arrival/no show policy?
Your massage appointment is time dedicated to you, and cannot be booked by another client. Please be respectful and give 24 hour notice if you need to cancel/reschedule so that I may use that opening for another client.
If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be charged the full amount of your scheduled service and no future appointments will be scheduled until this balance is paid in full. Exceptions can be made for inclement weather, contagious illnesses, and emergencies.
All appointments end as scheduled. In the event of a late arrival, your hands on time will be reduced. If a client is more than 10 minutes late I reserve the right to refuse service and enforce the less than 24 hour cancellation policy.
If you are paying with a gift certificate or package voucher and fail to give 24 hour notice, it will be considered void/used.
What if I wake up sick the day of my appointment?
If you are feeling ill or think you may be “coming down with something,” please call as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.
Under certain medical conditions, massage/bodywork may not be advised, for example: when a fever is present, infection, skin rashes, other illnesses, or recent surgery. If a massage could be potentially harmful to a client’s condition, I reserve the right to decline to perform the massage.
Will we have time to discuss my issues and goals before we start?
If this is your first session with me there will be a 10 minutes pre-session consultation (this will not cut into your hands on time). This allows me the opportunity to learn about your concerns and expectations, and create a treatment plan for your session.
If you are a returning client there will still be a pre-session consultation with every visit. These will be a shorter, but important, check in to listen to your needs for the day and proceed accordingly.
What should I bring or wear to my massage?
Comfort is key! Your session will be performed on a massage table with sheet draping which ensures you are not exposed. Please wear what you are comfortable in upon arrival and departure. You only need to bring with you: an idea of what your goals are for the session, a positive attitude, and the method of payment you prefer to use.
What is draping?
You will be asked to disrobe to your level of comfort, in private, and lie on the massage table under a sheet and blanket. During your session, the sheet will be used for draping to maintain modesty at all times. Professional draping techniques are used to expose only the area being treated at that particular point in the session.
Draping is required during the entire massage.
It will be recommended to wear minimal (underwear only) or no clothing as skin-to-skin contact increases the benefits of the session.
In cases where a client prefers to wear an article of clothing, the technique is adjusted to continue to massage over the clothes to address the muscle group effectively whenever possible and appropriate.
Will massage hurt?
Targeted work on problem areas may produce therapeutic discomfort, but it should not be enough to cause you to flex or flinch. Your session will be tailored to provide you with the amount of pressure and therapeutic work you are comfortable with. Please let me know if you are ever in pain, or feel the pressure is not appropriate. Adjustments can be made at any time to keep the session within your comfort level.
What should I do after my massage?
After your session, we will do a post-session consultation where you’ll be given recommendations of things to do before your next appointment. Most people feel very relaxed after their massage, and anything strenuous is not recommended. Be gentle with yourself and take time to allow your body to integrate the work it received.
Hydration is recommended for good general health. Caffeine and alcohol consumption are not recommended before or after getting massage services.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, major credit cards (Visa, MC, American Express Discover), PayPal, HSA & FSA, and insurance (with prior verification).
Do you accept tips? Should I tip?
Tips are not required but always appreciated if you feel you have received exceptional service. It’s customary to tip Massage Therapists the same amount you would tip for another personal service like a Hair Stylist.
